30 Wild Ales on Tap 16 Tons Taphouse & 16 Tons Cafe

We will be pouring ales ranging from Farmhouse to Funky, from Tart to Tooth-Achingly-Acidic. Rustic, Sour, Barrel Aged, Spontaneously Fermented, and simply Wild ales.
Beer is created when Yeast is introduced to the sweet, malty liquid known as wort. Traditionally this yeast did not come from labs and was not studied and separated under a microscope. It was introduced naturally, wildy, spontaneously. Wild Ales have had a huge resurgence in popularity in the last few years. The “Wild Yeast” that is used is now cultivated in labs, but the labs endeavor to duplicate the Wild Yeast blends that have occurred naturally in the great beer regions south of Brussels, Belgium and in the Flanders region of Belgium.
Week of Wild (4/23-29) will culminate Saturday & Sunday with a festival featuring 70 wild ales. No entry fee, cash only, $1-$3 for tasters. The Festival also marks our 2nd anniversary, 16 Taphouse opened its doors the last weekend in April in 2010.

We will be releasing our Anniversary Beer “El Coloquio de Cervantes” a barrel aged Sour Imperial Rye Saison with Raspberries made by Upright Brewing.

We will also have a few different versions of our 1st Anniversary Beer, Oakshire Frederic’s Lost Arm including bottles refermented with brettanomyces claussenii.
